An Taibhdhearc is the National Irish Language Theatre. We create, present and support the performing arts, including those of innovation and variety. We do this with and for artists and the Irish Language community across the country and around the world. The organisation is located in a historic building in the centre of Galway City with the following amenities: a theatre with a capacity of 145 seats, a studio space for meetings and rehearsals, offices as well as a café/bar for events and occasions.
Role Overview
An Taibhdhearc seeks a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated Marketing and Engagement Manager with responsibility for devising and leading on all in-house marketing campaigns to promote the productions. The Marketing Manager will play a vital role in supporting and promoting An Taibhdhearc’s artistic ambitions across an exciting portfolio of programmes and year-round activities. This role provides the opportunity to shape the communications of the organisation and bring imagination and new ideas to bear. The role is ideal for a strategic yet highly practical person with experience in communications/marketing.
The Marketing and Engagement Manager will ideally be passionate about speaking with, and listening to, our audiences; be engaged with current digital and marketing trends, with a sense of what’s coming next; be detail-oriented and data-driven; be creative and collaborative; love culture, the performing arts and Irish language; and be excited and proud to be part of An Taibhdhearc’s new vision.
Reporting
The Marketing Manager will report to the Artistic Director working closely with the senior team:
The Executive Director and Producer - and will also liaise with an external publicist and
Front of House and Box Office Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
• Planning and developing bespoke marketing campaigns for in-house productions and visiting companies.
• Managing, developing, and implementing institutional Marketing activity.
• Lead the development of and oversee the creation of all marketing collateral and ensure high standards of creativity, quality, and accessibility are maintained across all channels while ensuring that appropriate deadlines are met• Liaise with external designers, printers and other contractors when required, ensuring that key deadlines and deliverables are met.
• Collaborate in the administering of the marketing budget, including the tracking of POs and invoices, ensuring full and proper records are maintained.
• Analyse customer insights, consumer trends, market analysis, and marketing best practices to build successful strategies.
• Design and implement a marketing strategy.
PR
Liaise with external publicist to devise, develop and implement comprehensive PR
Strategies.
AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
● Develop in-depth understanding and experience of the actual and potential audience
● Lead on growing new audiences while retaining and deepening relationships with current audiences.
● Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders with a view to developing long-lasting and mutually beneficial audience development opportunities.
DIGITAL MARKETING
• Manage the website and its social media channels, with responsibility for content delivery, budget allocation, paid advertising, and online customer service.
• Manage the Google Ads account to ensure the venue maximises the potential of its monthly Google Ad grant.
• Develop, design, and implement organic and paid content schedules to engage existing and new audiences.
• Liaise with the FoH/Box Office Manager to ensure that all performances are correctly loaded on the website in advance of on-sale dates.
• Compile and present regular reports on the performance of all digital activity.
• Create and develop email marketing campaigns for regular communication with audiences and report on campaign performance.
• Monitor all messages, queries, and audience interactions across our social media platforms.
• Maintain audience databases in line with GDPR best practice.
• Drive the promotion of An Taibhdhearc and its work through design and video content, liaising with external photographers and videographers when required.
GENERAL
• Manage invite and RSVP databases, and assist with wider event planning and management as required.
• Liaise with Front of House and Operations teams to ensure displays and signage are timely and appropriate.
• Represent An Taibhdhearc at previews, opening and closing night performances, tours, and external events as required.
• In line with the evolving needs of the organisation, undertake other duties as may from time to time be assigned.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for marketing and a flair for communications.
The ideal candidate will have:
● Prior knowledge and experience of working in the theatre sector and/or Irish language arts sector.
● Training - Degree in Marketing, Marketing and Theatre Studies or equivalent.
● Irish Language skills - spoken as well as strong reading/writing skills.
● Excellent analytical skills, interpreting sales trends and audience patterns on Ticketsolve and other sales.
● Strong understanding of financial statistics to assess marketing techniques.
● Ability to think creatively and problem solve.
● Good communication skills with people at all levels, managing a range of personalities and work well within a team.
● A dynamic approach to work and an ability to work consistently and accurately to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Literacy in all basic computer packages and digital media platforms.
Employment Terms:
Salary: €60,000 pro rata per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 9am to 5pm, between Monday and Friday. The Executive Director is happy to arrange
flexible working hour with the successful applicant on the condition that important periods
(production and live performances) are well-covered.
• Holidays: 21 days pro rata annually, as well as public holidays.
• Probation Period: 6 months. Pension: Employer participation up to 5% depending on the employee’s contribution.
• Workplaces: An Taibhdhearc, 19 Middle Street, Galway, with possibilities for remote
work.
• Start Date: Date to be arranged with the appointee.
