NEILL | PÁIDÍN

AN TAIBHDHEARC X BRÚ

GALWAY THEATRE FESTIVAL 2026

An Taibhdhearc and Brú Theatre present Neill | Páidín. Inspired by Pádraic Ó Conaire's seminal Scothscéalta collection of stories, the characters of Neill and Páidín Mháire are brought to life in a celebration of the vivid imagery and beautiful language of one of Galway’s most beloved writers.

A woman struggles to move on from a past betrayal; her moment for revenge draws near. A fisherman in the wrong place; when tragedy strikes, the consequences are devastating.

Audiences are invited into the hearts and minds of two of Ó Conaire's most compelling characters as love, revenge, regret and memory weave together in these two interlinked pieces performed in Irish with subtitles. The ensemble cast includes Raymond Keane, Caitríona Ní Mhurchú and Eoin Ó Dubhghaill, directed by James Riordan with live music score by Anna Mullarkey.

AN TAIBHDHEARC X BRÚ THEATRE

FÉILE AMHARCLANNAÍOCHTA NA GAILLIMHE 2026

Cuireann An Taibhdhearc agus Brú Theatre Neill | Páidín i láthair. Spreagtha ag dhá shaothar as an mbailiúchán ceannródaíoch scéalta, Scothscéalta de chuid Phádraic Uí Chonaire, cuirtear beocht sna carachtair Neill agus Páidín Mháire trí chumasc de bhuncheol agus ensemble taibhithe.

Tugtar cuireadh don lucht féachana dul isteach i gcroí agus in intinn bheirt de na carachtair is spéisiúla de chuid Uí Chonaire i gceiliúradh ar íomhánna beoga agus teanga álainn de chuid duine de na scríbhneoirí is mó a bhfuil gean orthu i nGaillimh.

Téann sé dian ar bhean bogadh ar aghaidh ó fhealladh a rinneadh uirthi san am atá thart; tá tráth a díoltais ag druidim léi.

Iascaire san áit mhícheart; nuair a bhuaileann tragóid bíonn na hiarmhairtí tubaisteach.

Tá grá, díoltas, aiféala agus cuimhne fite fuaite ina chéile sa dá phíosa nasctha seo a chuirtear ar stáitse i nGaeilge le fotheidil. Airítear leis an ensemble Raymond Keane, Caitríona Ní Mhurchú agus Eoin Ó Dubhghaill, is é James Riordan an stiúradh le scór ceol beo le hAnna Mullarkey.
