Titim na hOíche - Oíche Chultúir 2025
This is a free event, with no requirement to register beforehand - just a beautiful evening on the streets of Galway!
An Taibhdhearc presents Titim na hOíche as part of Culture Night. Join us for an enchanting evening this September. With performances from Claddagh Chamber Choir, An Chéad Ghlúin Eile, and more, Middle Street will be filled with music, lights and magic during this vibrant late-night event.
Titim na hOíche is an ambitious spectacle for Culture Night. Inspired by the shifting light, sound and atmosphere of the city as night falls, this immersive experience reflects and animates the Irish language, amongst the many languages woven through Galway life. Middle Street becomes the stage, coming alive with choral soundscape, solo voices, light and projection to create a mesmerising twilight world.
Drawing on ecology and nature, the lighting will evoke processes of growth and rootedness. This ties the spectacle to the street itself, and rooting the Irish language in place through light, sound and atmosphere.
Audiences will promenade through the street, encountering a bespoke celebration of the Irish language layered with the everyday multilingualism of Galway at and above street level. Partnering with Claddagh Chamber Choir - whose repertoire spans 19 languages and over 30 voices - Titim na hOíche will celebrate Galway’s bilingual city status and its rich intercultural identity.
