Tír an Traonaigh
A new site-specific production in Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo
Two sisters set out on a misguided tour to resolve their feud over land, nature and a noisy little bird.
Step aboard our bus for an unforgettable theatrical journey through the spectacular landscape of North Mayo, where family, biodiversity and the future of the Irish language collide.
As audiences travel through the Mayo Gaeltacht, the story of feuding sisters Annie and Deirbhle unfolds. At the centre of their conflict is the Corncrake, a shy little bird whose distinctive "Crex Crex" call echoes across the Mullet Peninsula each summer after its remarkable migration from Africa.
Tír an Traonaigh has all the hallmarks of The Performance Corporation’s ground-breaking work – an adventurous show that mixes theatre, music, dance and incredible visuals to create an experience that is playful, energetic and thought-provoking.
Written by Tom Swift and directed by Jo Mangan, this new Irish-language production commissioned by An Taibhdhearc explores family, place, memory and the delicate balance between tradition, nature and change.
ACCESS & PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Tír an Traonaigh is a travelling, site-specific performance taking place aboard a bus and at a number of locations around Béal an Mhuirthead. Audiences will get on and off the bus several times throughout the performance.

The performance begins and ends at the Church of Ireland, Belmullet. We recommend arriving around 15 minutes before your performance time.
