This Culture Night, enjoy newly composed songs in Irish alongside modern arrangements of great songs in the sean-nós style. A one-hour performance featuring Emer O’Flaherty and Philip Fogarty.

Emer O'Flaherty

Emer is a composer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, flute, tin whistle and concertina.

Her song Taibhse won the International Pan Celtic Song Competition for newly composed songs, and she has also won several Oireachtas singing awards over the years.

She wrote a collection of poetry, Teach-House, along with a musical score to accompany it, which has been performed in various museums and libraries.

Emer composed music and stories inspired by Greek mythology for the production Réaltbhuíonta – Constellations, which premiered on 21 December 2024.

At the end of January this year, she performed at Celtic Connections in Glasgow.

Philip Fogarty

Philip Fogarty is a composer, performer and sound artist. He has toured with several Irish and international music ensembles. His musical roots span a range of genres, including traditional music, rock, electronic and contemporary music.

He enjoys all forms of performance, from live concerts to interactive and multimedia performances that actively involve the audience. Philip plays the accordion and piano and is also a singer.
